Grit & Ledger comes from years of running restaurants, owning and operating a construction company, working in trucking, operating my own trucking business, and helping other business owners work through their operations. I’ve been responsible for the staff, the paperwork, the equipment, the customers, and the numbers. That experience shapes how I approach your business.

More than 10 years in restaurants and banquet management.

My restaurant experience includes general manager, restaurant manager, kitchen manager, and head chef roles. That experience includes supervising approximately 45 employees in a restaurant management role and managing food and labor costs.

That work meant managing profit and loss, hiring and training staff, scheduling, ordering, inventory, menu development, and food safety. I’ve also consulted with other restaurants on their operations. When we talk about prep sheets, ordering, waste, labor, and what’s left after the bills are paid, I’m drawing on work I’ve done myself.

28+ years in trucking, including running my own carrier.

My trucking background spans commercial driving, owner operator work, equipment maintenance, and business ownership. I started my own interstate trucking business in 2021. Running it meant handling budgets, maintenance, operating costs, and the records and registrations that come with keeping a carrier in business.

That included IFTA, IRP, UCR, DOT compliance records, driver qualification files, Clearinghouse requirements, drug and alcohol consortium participation, and maintenance documentation. I’ve also consulted with other trucking companies and provided regulatory guidance to drivers. I understand how rates, fuel, downtime, empty miles, and daily decisions affect what a truck actually earns.

Running a construction company since 2002.

I’ve owned and operated my construction company since 2002. That construction, remodeling, and repair work has meant handling estimates, purchasing materials, managing crews and projects, and working directly with customers.

When we talk about pricing a job, accounting for materials and labor, organizing the work, or keeping track of the money, I’m drawing on the experience of running that business myself.

Consulting with other business owners.

I’ve consulted with other businesses as well as carriers and restaurants. The work starts with understanding how the business actually runs, where the problems are, and what the owner needs help getting done.
